Gris-Gris, a Live Band for Concerts and Festivals!
Gris-Gris is first and foremost an artist, but also a world of his own, a way of making music flow.
Drummer, singer, washboard and harmonica player, he is the starting point and beating heart of the project.
Around him, the musicians join the dance. Trumpet, guitar, piano, organ, trombone, sousaphone… Depending on the stage and the songs, the lineup tightens or expands, from trio to quintet. Faces and instruments may change. Gris-Gris remains the common thread.
New Orleans is at the heart of his music. Not as a postcard, but as a living, breathing tradition where second line meets funk, soul and blues, and gets bodies moving.
The Gris-Gris spirit is also the spirit of Mardi Gras and the Second Line: festive without being superficial, high-energy without being aggressive, generous without losing its sense of style.
The musical traditions that shape this story are never reproduced exactly as they were. They pass through Gris-Gris, taking on a different color, a different energy. The original compositions follow the same path: groove, light, and songs made to be listened to as much as danced to.
And then there’s the stage. That’s where it all comes together.
Around Gris-Gris, the musicians become a true band. A living ensemble, bound together by the same groove, letting the music flow between the stage and the audience.
Every concert is an invitation: listen, move, smile, take part. Until that moment when the groove takes over and the line between musicians and audience begins to disappear.
Gris-Gris is one heart, many voices, and a single pulse.
